Handover of the ZPDH 6300.1-CZ spreader

Datum: 2010/01/12

At the end of the year 2006 Severočeské doly a.s. Chomutov and PRODECO, a.s. have concluded a contract on the supply of a new excavator and a spreader of the TC 2 capacity series in a total price exceeding the sum of CZK 2 billion. The first stage of this contract was terminated by the handover of the spreader of the ZPDH 6300.1-CZ type on December 18, 2009. Severočeské doly will use this new spreader in the Bílina Mine, in the area of the internal stockpile.

The Bílina Mine (DB) is the deepest open-pit mine in the Czech Republic, where the altitude of the mine bottom approaches the level of the Baltic Sea. The output of the Bílina Mine ranges around the level of 9 million tons of high-quality low-sulphur coal annually. With respect to its great depth, the removal of the overburden in this mine is very difficult. As the quantity of the overburdened soil will continue to increase by the end of service life of the Bílina Mine in 2050, it is necessary to strengthen the capacities both on the part of removal of the overburden and on the part of stowing the overburdened soil in the internal stockpile, because reclamation will commence on the last external stockpile in the Ústecký region in the spring of 2010. The annual quantity of overburdened soil removed from the Bílina Mine will amount to approximately 60 million square meters in upcoming years.

The ZPDH 6300.1-CZ spreader is designated for stowing overburdened soil during the uncovering of brown coal seams. Its maximum capacity is 6,300 m3 of bulk soil per hour. The spreader, with a total weight of 1,400 t, moves independently on two caterpillar undercarriages at a speed of up to 10 m/min. The end of the boom, where the stowed material is discharged from the stowing machine and deposited on a stockpile, can be lifted to a height of up to 26 m. The spreader is equipped with a control system that makes control easier. The spreader is operated by the operator from an operating cabin positioned on a rotary platform at a height of 9 meters, and by a loading gate operator whose cabin is positioned on a connecting bridge. The operator has two screens available for control of the spreader. One can be controlled using a trackball, while the other indicates the machine's status. The installed power input of the spreader is 2,425 kW.

The project documentation was prepared at PRODECO, a.s. in 2007 and 2008. The production of the majority of the components took place in 2008. KSK Komořany a.s. was the supplier of the steel structure, while the main machine components were supplied by VÍTKOVICE GEARWORKS, a.s. Supply and installation of the electrical equipment was carried out by První Elektro a.s. General assembly of the spreader was ensured and carried out by NOEN, a.s.

The installation of the KK 1300 overburden excavator started in November 2009. The installation will continue in 2010 and 2011. The aim of PRODECO a.s. is to hand over the excavator to Severočeské doly in accordance with the business contract to be concluded in 2011.
