History
The company was established by a merger of Design Office and engineering-supplying organization. The Design Office was founded in Teplice in 1945 and it mainly focused on mining technology. The Office designed all spreaders and bucket-wheel excavators operating in brown coal mines in the Czech Republic, the biggest digging-wheel excavator in the Czech Republic and a number of stacker-reclaimers, belt conveyers and other additional equipment for open pit coal mines and thermal power plants of CEZ, a.s.
Since the set-up the company´s owner was the joint-stock company Vítkovice. The meeting of shareholders in March 2002 approved a sale of the majority to Severočeské doly a.s. Chomutov and Sokolovská uhelná, a.s, Sokolov. In connection with the change of ownership the company changed its name from VÍTKOVICE – PRODECO, a.s. to PRODECO, a.s. in August 2002.

The company designed, supplied and put into operation more than 30 types of digging-wheel excavators, bucket-wheel excavators and spreaders in the total amount exceeding 140 machines. The giant machines and other equipment for open pit mining were supplied not only to the customers in the Czech Republic but also to clients in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Yugoslavia, Poland, Bulgaria and Greece. The company´s engineers designed and delivered a number of unique equipment belonging to the world top and protected by many patents, i.e. walking undercarriages for spreaders and excavators, giant machines weighing up to 6 200 t, carousel conveyors etc. The company designed and commissioned belt conveyors from width 400 mm to 2400 mm.
The company has gradually transformed to an engineering-supplying organization and employees are highly experienced in design, detailed design, ensuring fabrication, assembly, commissioning and service. Specialists take care of warranty and post-warranty service of the supplied equipment. The company´s priority is the satisfaction of the customer and delivering products of high quality within required terms.
